Counselling offers you a safe, comfortable and confidential place for you to explore, reflect and find emotional stability. It can help you to explore any problems or issues that may have been troubling you. You can develop the confidence to speak freely and openly without judgement, which allows you to look at how you have been feeling in more depth and in time, help you find your own solutions. Counselling can lead to an increased feeling of well-being, self-awareness, and confidence. It can lead you to a greater understanding, and acceptance of what may be challenging situations.

My Role
Counselling can be an emotionally difficult process. Developing a trusting working relationship is the key to success and so my aim is to make you feel comfortable and safe. My role as a counsellor is not to give advice or tell you what to do. What I will do is listen to your concerns, help you explore coping mechanisms that work for you and look at finding new, more positive ways of thinking. The answers you are looking for are often already inside you, you may just simply need the space and encouragement to find them.
Although my core way of working is Person Centred approach I am flexible and I use approaches that suit my client’s personality or personal preferences. Other methods which I sometimes use are Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.

What to expect
You can contact me confidentially by telephone or email, please see the Contact page for further information. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have at this stage; you are under no obligation.
I offer a 30 minute initial consultation for just £20. This is not a counselling session but will give us the opportunity to meet and discuss your requirements and for you to make sure that you feel comfortable with us working together.
If we agree to continue working together, we will meet usually on a weekly basis at the same time and day each week; however I understand that work/life commitments do not always allow for this and so can offer some flexibility. Each counselling session will last 50 mins and we will establish in our initial meeting whether you wish to work to a time limited contract (usually 6-12 sessions) or a longer term contract.
Our work can take place wherever you feel most comfortable. This may be in the comfortable therapy room based in Biddulph, or outside where we can utilise the benefits of nature as part of our therapy; whatever suits you best. Our initial assessment will be held in the therapy room.
Anything we agree at our initial meeting can be renegotiated at any time.
